Incoming view of the Monastery of St. MichelMont St. Michel and Tours

Tuesday we visited the monastery of St. Michel. The monastery is located on the top of an island (since connected to the mainland by a bridge). During low tide you can practially walk to the island (if you like cold mud, that is: it's off the coast of Normandy).

The monastery is very beautiful and is quite an impressive site when approaching the island. It has been a center for pilgrimage since the 8th century. The island itself has become quite a tourist attraction, with lots of little shops & various things. We went on to Tours afterwards, but the rest of our tour (Ha!) there would wait until tomorrow...
