First Knight (PG-13)

Starring: Richard Gere, Sean Connery

Contents: Violence

Rating: 5

Summary: Lancelot, a wandering swordfighter, saves the life of Guinevere, who is traveling to Camelot to be wed to King Arthur. Following her to Camelot, Lancelot becomes a knight of the Round Table in order to be near to her. However, he discovers not only his love for Guinevere, but something to fight for as he comes to believe in everything that Camelot represents.

This film was so-so: nice production values, interesting costumes, but kind of a boring plot that makes absolute hash of the standard Arthurian legends. Richard Gere needs to expand on his two or three facial expressions. Sean Connery, of course, gives a good performance, but it can't save this film. I'd wait till it comes out on video (in fact, I DID wait until it came out on video).
